After a covid year off, Friendsgiving returned to San Marcos where we squeezed eight families into a not-particularly-code-compliant VRBO. The last part isn't all bad; it meant there was a 30' waterslide and we could play Danger Pong.
The covid surge that everyone expected after Thanksgiving has hit. Jes is busy at work. I can get by with games, streaming, jogging, and taking the dog out.
Among Us memes are on the decline, but they got a little bump with the votingest election in US history. The lolbaters haven't played it in a couple of months, but we did have a few rousing sessions of griefing and dysfunction.
The Cooley Halloween party moved to the Tonkers' place due to special circumstances, but it still had costumes, pizzas, and beers. Jessica's Gamora costume won best of the night, (another) Chris's beekeeper won worst.
Idaho Falls was pretty mellow. We got a few rounds of Snow Eagle's Beaver Dick and executed on a project goal of obtaining the giant guiness cup from The Celt.
The 2014 Medieval Gridiron season has arrived, we drafted at Casa de Santos this past weekend. Good food, good drinks, Ryan and Dan drafted using the same fantasy football magazine - I know, right?
I spent the week prepping the garage for the annual Super Bowl party. The walls are now dark green as planned, with some brick red. The ceiling is still white so it's by no means cave-like, but the green adds flavor.
As expected, life and times got pretty exciting. The Cathcart breakdown:
... Fantasy football; black eye
Medieval Gridiron: 2-2
AFL: 0-4
Supermassive Black Hole: 1-3
League of Extraordinary Gentleman: 3-1
Two losses can be chalked up to Vick getting injured. DeAngelo is not doing well. But has been a very strange season so far, hopefully I can dig myself out of some of these holes.
My 20mm f/2.8 came today, the one with the 62mm diameter. Doctor Daddy wants me to shoot his kid's first birthday party and the 50mm and 105mm won't cut it. The plan is to foreshorten the crap out of them (below) so they all look like bobbleheads. That's cute, right?
I've finally made the jump to two fantasy leagues, but will maintain my own rule that Thou shalt not speak of thine 'other fantasy league' whilst conversing about a league.
So the ol' 1.6 Athlon setup finally choked. Hard to say what it was, I've failed to diagnose the problem hardware having independently swapped everything out. I'll revisit when I'm setting the box up as a terminal in the garage.
I cleared out the car hold on Sunday thanks to the garage-media room proximity. I was able to relocate all of the tools to the adjacent storage room, though they've been in disarray since being displaced from the upstairs bedroom.
I furnished the media room with some proper couches. They're just one palette up at the moment, but it's great for running audio wiring.
... And I furnished Jon an xr400. Much thanks to Ted for the leg work, and Christine for the bow.
And Jon furnished me a fantasy football victory.
Scene It
Ty and I cleaned up on Saturday. Three comeback victories in a row against the roomies and their girlfriends.
... Fantasy football
Next week will be straight out of Genesis. Kevin takes on Brian, and I'm playing Jon. Let's hope the older brothers fare better than they did in the elder vs. younger Wiilympics all those months ago. But what's there to worry about with Wayne against Oakland and Moss against the Jets? That's seven tds right there.
