Since
Mom came to visit,
Jes and I were able to sneak out to the Cooley Halloween party. After much hmming and hawing and learning that Raygun was already a popular costume, we decided
our couples costume would be Furiosa and her War Rig.
Everyone was in agreement that
the costumes were well above par this year.
Winter
Beach days have given way to Lego days.
Corrupt Heart
After several tries with current character assignments,
the boardgame crew reached - and vanquished - the Corrupt Heart. The key was moving Defect to a Claw build.
Today fit
this template but since it was actually Wednesday Tintin seemed unncessary.
That is all.
Last time I briefly mentioned that I had
mostly finished the deck railing but needed to attach a grasp. Since the Trex planks already needed support across the 5' post gaps, it made sense to attach them by screwing upward and having a clean top.
I wanted to use a T-shaped piece of steel or aluminum, but
the only 3" option was an L. I notched the posts and screwed them in from the side while using big finishing nails on the top.
The grasp went on easily with construction adhesive, screws, and
Jes pushing down on the top.
The outside of the posts have
a trim plank to keep the sun off of structural elements.

The left segment has just the aluminum L, the right segment is finished. |
I'm not in love with the color combination but this was the lightest color Trex and it is unwalkable (in bare feet) in summer.
Now that
the upper deck is complete, I can work on the remaining two walls beneath.
